FUNDING

The Central Speech and Hearing Clinic is a non-profit, charitable organization which is affiliated with the Victoria General Hospital and is governed by a Board of Directors. It was established in 1989 by a group of parents who previously travelled out of province to access the Auditory-Verbal services offered. These families were committed to providing this therapy to any family who sought it and for this reason there is no fee for the services that are provided.

The Clinic receives annual funding from the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority through Manitoba Health and the Children's Special Services Branch (CSS) of the Department of Family Services. The Clinic, must however supplement this public funding and does so through its annual fundraising efforts. However, we do need your help in our fundraising efforts to continue to provide this service at no fee. Our fundraising events include the annual Golf Tournament and the Culinary Classic for Kids.

The Elks and Royal Purple Auditory-Verbal Fund is available for families who may need financial assistance for the purchase of hearing aids, equipment, etc. New families are given priority assistance with this fund. Special assistance for families is also available through Children's Special services (CSS) to assist with costs related to the purchase of and maintenance of hearing aids, mileage for travel to the Clinic and respite.
